Handling Difficult Emotions

This group will focus upon:
· Raising ‘emotionally intelligent’ children
· Parent self-care
· Personalized to the unique needs of the group members' personal situations:
o Single-parenting (including divorced parents)
o Parenting teens, toddlers, or both
o Balancing parenting with other important relationships
o Working both outside and within the home
§ Balancing structure, connection, and other issues.
· Researchers have found that even more than IQ, emotional awareness and ability to handle feelings will determine you and your children’s success and happiness in all walks of life including family relationships.

§ Parents can learn to accept difficult emotions as a fact of life
§ Parents can use emotional moments as opportunities for teaching their children important life lessons and
