Getting to Know Daina

Daina G. Schatzman is licensed to practice within the State of Kansas as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT). She is working towards her Clinical Licensure while under the post-graduate supervision of Steve Rathbun, Ph.D., LCMFT.  Daina specializes in providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families and maintains a private practice with Emotional Journey, LLC in Wichita, Kansas.

Daina is a 2010 graduate of Friends University with a Masters of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MSFT). She provided therapy services as a clinical Intern while serving her internship at the Center on Family Living located on the campus of Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Throughout the course of her internship Daina provided psychotherapy services to meet a variety of client needs including depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, marital issues and distress, physical, sexual and emotional abuse, sexual issues, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, phase of life and adjustment difficulties, parent/child relationship problems, impulse disorders as well as other concerns and disorders. In addition, Daina co-facilitated pre-marital work with couples seeking to be married at First Evangelical Free Church in Wichita, Kansas.

Daina works with a broad spectrum of clients. Her strengths as a clinician are most evident while working with those struggling with issues related to marital and relationship distress, those struggling with effective communication, trauma, personal growth issues, in making the adjustment to phase of life changes, sexual concerns, and marriage preparation.

Daina strives to understand each client’s perspective and unique concerns. She utilizes an Integrative Approach to therapy with the use of Attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Contextual Theory along with Cognitive Behavioral techniques. She also gives particular attention to intergenerational patterns that may be impacting current difficulties as well as interactional patterns in communication that can leave clients feeling “stuck.” While offering genuine care and compassion, Daina considers it a profound privilege to walk alongside clients in times of difficulty.
